Thanks, Jay Lake!

Tonight I ran over to Powell's Books of Beaverton to listen to Jay Lake talk about his book, Mainspring.  As I am just starting out on this journey to sell my writing and I genuinely like Jay, I thought it might be good to go check out a reading.  One thing I've been highly impressed with is how approachable Jay is and his willingness to share his thoughts on his writing process.  He doesn't shirk (see his post on the recent Los Angeles time review) from talking about the things that make him uncomfortable either, which is refreshing.

Too, hearing authors read their own stuff, gives some insight into the worlds they've created.  I enjoy that aspect of the process.

Anyway, I picked up Mainspring and am looking forward to starting it tomorrow.  I'll let you know what I think.  :)  Thanks to Jay for sharing the passages he did with us.  It was a great reading.
