Sketches are where most of my ideas start. In this case, Gilbert started with colored pencils. Because I love the texture the pencils gave him, I decided to scan these into the computer, clean them up in photoshop, and combine them with digitally created art. In these early sketches, you will find the journey Gilbert took me on as I figured out the story and image details. Gilbert is one of my all time favorite characters and I find myself joyfully returning to him over and over. He continues to make me a better artist and my heart gets happy whenever I get to create more fun adventures for him.
